The little rebels like to bounce...

As we do every year, we spent some time at our state fair. In keeping with tradition, we gave the annual "we aren't riding any rides so don't even ask" speech on the way there.

Then we saw the rock climbing wall and bungee/trampoline jumping...it doesn't really count as a ride does it?

No, I don't think so either, so we said "yes".

Aaron immediately said "NO". Anyone surprised? I'm not either. He held very firmly to his conviction that there was absolutely no way he was getting on that and jumping that high.

Until, he saw his siblings all have a turn and enjoy it.

He overcame his fear, got comfortable with the idea and decided to give it a try. I'm so proud of him. HUGE step out of the comfort zone and turns out he loved it. They get about five minutes or so to jump and he was very cautious at first, small little bounces. As time went on, he worked up his courage and towards the end he was jumping quite high.

Magdalyn was the first one on and was quite excited. Once she got going though, she decided it was a bit scary and she just enjoyed spending her time doing light little bounces. Fear aside, she did enjoy it and is already talking about doing it again next year.

Rocklin was excited to jump, but like Aaron, he has comfort zone issues. It wasn't the jumping as much as getting up his nerve to climb on in front of a huge crowd. He often avoids doing things he loves when there is a crowd around. So, I'm proud of him too, especially when his knees were
hurting and he gave it a try anyway.

Jerald is our "bouncy boy". He loves to bounce whether on solid ground or a trampoline...bounce, bounce, bounce. I'm not the least bit surprised at how quickly he got going when it was his turn. He spent most of his time trying to do a flip and couldn't quite figure it out. Right at the very end, he finally was able to get in a good flip!

Like Jerald, Parker is also quite bouncy. He could have stayed on that trampoline all day long. He laughed and laughed the entire time and worked really hard to go as high as possible!

I might post more pictures/stories later, for now I'm off to bed. It's been a long, hot, wonderful day...I am so very very blessed to have this crew. They make me laugh, make me cry, and challenge me constantly to be a better mama, a better person and to push through my comfort zones and embrace all life has to offer!
