Another year...

This year, I won't be as mushy as I was last year(although, I still feel the same). I'll just say, Happy Anniversary Kev! I love you and look forward to another year of working towards that goal of side by side rocking chairs when we are old and gray!

Snapshots...

Our days have been full...

of yardwork

of History re-enactment

of Mini-golf (and bowling the same day)

of goofiness

of dress-up

of 1000 piece puzzles that have to be restarted over and over because little brother takes it apart

mostly, our days have just been full of joy, laughter, and memories!

Snippets...

What I thought would be a calm, relaxing summer has turned out to be much busier than I thought. Hard to believe it's July already, I think I slept one night and lost a month!
Kev has been very busy with work, no surprise as this is always the busiest time of year. We have been abundantly blessed during a time when many are unemployed. This has not escaped our notice, we are very thankful and I try to keep perspective when I'm tempted to complain about his long hours. When he's not working, he's been busy with family time and various projects around here. Most recently, he added air conditioning, insulation and a recliner to his "office", aka the shed out back. For some reason, the kids think this is the greatest thing in the world. Rocklin even chose playing checkers in dad's shed as his spot for Friday night date night.

The kids are all growing by leaps and bounds...both physically and developmentally. Food issues continue, same old, same old. I finally was able to obtain the records from their testing last year and was very disappointed to see that there were things we weren't told. I am in the process of getting copies to give our new ped and hope to sit down with him in August to discuss where to go from here.

Jerald will be 10 in less than a month. That is unbelievable to me, how are we just a few short years away from having a young adult in the home? He blesses me constantly with his sweet spirit and servant's heart. We decided that turning ten warrants a fun trip of the birthday boy's choice. He initially picked a day in Cape May, doing birding (anyone surprised by this?). A week or two ago, he mentioned that he really would love to go see the Tribe in North Carolina instead. We will be heading down there mid-August for a weekend. I know it's for Jerald's birthday...but I can I just say that I am beyond excited! Woo hoo!

Rocklin is excited to play flag football in a few weeks. He really wanted to play tackle, but it didn't work out. When he's not in the yard playing soccer, football or doing bike tricks he is reading. He suddenly cannot get enough of the printed word and it thrills me to no end! Most recently, he's enjoying the Little House series.

Magdalyn is becoming my little shadow. She loves to help with laundry and dishes and has started to help more in the kitchen. She even made brownies for daddy last week, with little supervision. She's gearing up for soccer and is enjoying many of the books from the five in a row booklist. She read her first chapter book last week (Sarah, Plain and Tall).

Aaron continues to be a constant source of laughter. He wears his heart on his sleeve and feels emotion deeply...this is great when it means he loves unconditionally, no holds barred. It's not so great when it means he's angry or frustrated. We are working on appropriate means of dealing with those emotions. He is learning the days of the week and has decided that certain activities, foods, etc are only good on certain days. He only likes maple syrup on Saturdays. He only likes gel in his hair on Tuesdays. He only likes socks on Thursdays...and so on. Aaron is very excited to try his hand (or should I say, feet?) at soccer in the fall. He was the life of the party when we met with some friends to watch the fireworks on the 4th. One friend commented on how perfect and wonderful the entire day had been. He shared his agreement by saying, "yes it was a great day and I even behaved."

Parker. Hmmm. Parker is a firecracker. He is without a doubt the busiest of all of my children. We have entered the land of temper tantrums and so it has been a time consuming job to teach him that there are better ways to deal with life. He has the most infectious laughter and has me laughing often when I'm not even sure why I'm laughing. We've been trying to visit my parents once a week for swimming and he LOVES the pool. He has no fear and is quite the little fish. I imagine he'll be swimming fairly well before summer's end.
As for me, I'm just busy with meals, cleaning, schooling through the summer and planning for the new year. I'm trying to catch up on some reading, so I have about six books all over the house...grabbing a page here and there whenever I'm able.
Life is good. Busy. Sometimes exhausting. Always a blessing and mostly a joyful journey!
Not sure I'll blog much the rest of the summer, but I'm hoping to be back in the fall sharing more of our life and particulars about school.
